My work if it falls into any category, might be called symbolism, words, such as stream of consciousness, spontaneous eidetic images or personal myths could also be used.. an artist is in a sense a cipher. We express, in spite of ourselves the other realities that exist alongside this reality, and sometimes we also portray this reality too. I feel that we must remain true to this calling. To do otherwise would be dishonest and against your own destiny, against your own raison d'?re.
If my images cause a person to see or feel their world in a new way, then that is success. I work mainly in acrylics, on canvas, in sizes varying from 5"x7" to murals and scrolls measuring 100 feet long... it all depends on where my universe is at the time and what my muses have to say. I also work with pen and ink.

WORK IN PROGRESS: "Once Upon a Time..." Jephcott is exploring the mythology of Faerie Tales & Nursery Rhymes. Some of her Faerie works will be displayed in our Yuletide Show. She has also painted her feelings and reactions to the events of September 11th, 2001. Some of these works were exhibited this summer in North Carolina and at MacDonnell Williamson House, Pointe Fortune, Quebec.

CELTIC ANIMAL ANCESTOR SERIES
This is a series of acrylic paintings depicting the ancient animals from our Celtic mythology- some of them are our actual clan totems. I found the correlation between the Native Indian clan animal totems and my own Scottish tradition of clans and animal totems very fascinating. Into these paintings I am also incorporating the symbology of trees, plants and ohgam and runic letters. I find all these things are interrelated. I began this series in February 1998 in France. The series of 23 works was completed just before Christmas 2001 and are now gracing a home in New Jersey. These paintings were designed by Jephcott to be used as her own personal Tarot cards and she has made up a set using all 23 images. A set of these cards can be made by special request at a cost of $150.00Can, with 10% going to support the Gaelic Cultural Centre in Glengarry County, Ontario. The cards are hand built and laminated to protect the image surfaces.

ROAD KILL
An exhibition of paintings as an apology to the animals that are needlessly killed on our roads and highways. I began this series a few years ago after hearing of a tragic accident between a speeding pickup truck and a child on her pony. It was stupid and senseless. There were other such unfortunate events... a bear, a fox, a deer and others. I began to record them symbolically in my work. It was a way to apologize to the animal's spirit and a sort of prayer that maybe man would slow down and consider Nature, the Earth and reflect on what we are actually doing... going through Life so fast and paving over Mother Earth. These paintings are a hope for a better awareness. Some of the original paintings are not here as they are now in private collections, some works from this series are still available and can be seen at the Gallery by appointment only.

Cabris is a small hilltop village in the Alpes-Maritimes in the South of France. It is quite close to Grasse & Nice & Cannes. It has a 12th century castle & was deserted for 400 years after the Plague. It is now a thriving little town with several good restaurants , a hotel & a few B&Bs.
